Yet I was drawn to try to follow thy ministry somewhat, in hearing encouraging remarks (from former ILYM Field Sec'y Maurine Pyle) about ministries within FUM which give cause for hope rather than frustration or despair.

I want to hasten to share this news about the new, and renewed, Tender Sprouts emerging in Nebraska and Kansas, with people that may not yet know, but may be able to participate. (It will help me if I can communicate directly, rather than through blogs: I welcome convesation via my standard e-mail: dfinke@iland.net.)

I continue to count as precious, and grow from, our time together at Barnesville in June 2007 (I'm not "conservative" enough yet to abandon the traditional, though pagan-based, calendar terms). The connections I made, and re-made, at that time continue to flower. We (I speaking as an older Friend) were so enriched to feel the energy and see the insights of those of your colleagues who have been part of (by whatever name) an awakening ecumenical movement among Friends, giving testimony to what Paul describes as Christ having "broken down the dividing wall of hostility" (Eph. 2:14).

Though I have not followed details of the various travelling ministries of a number of today's young "Valiant 60" I am profoundly convinced that God in Christ is bringing to birth a New Creation in and for and among us.

I do rejoice!

-DHF

(Columbia, MO -- which might be a stopover point for thee on thy travels, with some adequate notice!)David Hadley Finkenoreply@blogger.com
