It was just such a shift that led me to the Quakers not so very long ago.
These shifts, these alterations, can feel disconcerting. But I've found some peace in learning to recognize that each of these shifts fits perfectly into a pattern. And you've summed that pattern up quite nicely: "Maybe God has decided that it is time for me to grow up - or, at least, to move a little bit further down the path of maturity in Christ."
I long to hear a call to do something dramatic, something "important," something very different from the "steady endurance" that seems to mark other people's lives.
But God is patient with me. He models the steady endurance I need to learn. He gives me direction at a slow and easy pace, handing out insight and hints and messages over time. There's been no knocked-off-a-horse-on-the-road-to-Damascus moment for me.
Rather, God simply coxes me "to move a little bit further down the path."
Or, to put it another way, when I was young I fully expected God to call me to be "a great man" who would bear much of the world's weight on his shoulders. Over time I found he's calling me instead to be a good man who carries no more than he can bear.
Good luck with your new direction. I hope and pray that it involves a continuation of your writing. I love your writing.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07278569290198583553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37106751.post-35127196779673554182011-12-28T16:18:28.744-05:002011-12-28T16:18:28.744-05:00Yes, this sounds quite familiar.
